Weird Policy? Perplexed of how to react, am writing this to throw my frustration out. Who doesn’t want to play safe?
We once, in a company where I previously was hired, had an employee A hacked an account of another employee B as he knew all his personal details like DOB, Address and unfortunately also had the account number of employee(b) from whom he acquired, days ago for bank transactions, later was caught and rusticated.
Not only a bank account can be hacked but things like Mail-IDs, cellular accounts etc can be hacked too. So is there really a need to share this info? As of what I know, anyone would not, if one does, he/ she lacks common sense, as in technology today, one petite INFO about a pupil is enough to acquire all his/ her personal details.
Of late, I was literally shocked to know that there is no employee privacy/ data security that is maintained within the company. Was initially startled, if this was done out of pure ignorance or innocence!
I wonder why the crucial employee information like ID, Grade, DOB, Address and other employee details are being shared across the board? The information which is needed just for the HR and/ or Admin, is being shared across just like that, without employees’ consent !!?!!
We cannot even make a guess of how profiteering can that be. For what & why is this kind of employee information being shared across?
Sharing Employees’ Information without their consent – Is it not against any employee data compliance/ security/ NDA? It is, anywhere else outside and it is a generic rule that an employer has to take care of. I’ve worked for few other companies where there was a promising non-disclosure agreement between the employee and the employer. Employers should follow this policy strictly and take care of such critical aspects by default, before someone questions it.
No one would want to hold anyone responsible in future for any unexpected occurrences. Hoping things to be sorted soon.
First of all, an employer SHOULD follow Employee Privacy Policy/ Non-Disclosure Agreement, failing which every employee has right to question its employer about it and fight for attaining employee rights. If an employer has issues following the policy, they should should promise in ‘written’ to every individual/ employee that there won’t be any harm caused due to such information sharing and even when there are issues, they will be responsible for those occurrences.
Finally, trust appalling, emotions impaled and still feeling it ironic, speculating to know if the Intranet is for the benefit of an employee or a Matrimonial site on the Internet for the benefit of every employee.
